Original Music

Okay. So I already know that Wilttilt had uploaded the Fusionfall Soundtrack on youtube (which he is AWESOME for), but I wanna know if you're going to use the original versions of some songs. Some of the videos he has have a v1 in them. This means they were created first. Could you use those instead of the first ones? (Midtown v1 sounds AWESOME!)

I love Wiltilt for that. But I've given some base music soundtracks to shorten and change for specific parts. If I could make music, I would, but sadly, I don't have that ability.

That is sad. But we still have Wilttilt! So it isnt so bad.

Yeah! I listen to his stuff nearly every day. The nostalgia...Oh, we could add in some of the music in his playlist for that that wasn't actually in the game. That way, we can get some of the old feeling and we won't get sued.

What law?

The laws guarding products, inventions, etc etc. Patons and stuff. The music is CN's so, it's virtually theirs.

I'm trying to re-create Zelda music, but I'm not sure I can because of it.

Modifying doesn't usually make it legally ok. (Unless maybe it's unrecognisable to the original.)

BUT I'm fairly sure it's fine for FFL to use copyrighted material
(even non-CN stuff)
for personal/educational use and NOT for profit.

FFL aren't making any money so they won't get sued.
(And they're not providing anything that could make a profit loss in CN's company.)

I'm missing some rules and I'm not a lawyer but
I think it'll be ok.

FFL wouldn't bother if they knew something like copyright would trip them up at the first hurdle.
There have been quite a few discussions about this and the answer is usually that it's ok as long as no money is being made.
(Whether it's profit or maintenance...I don't know but I'm guessing even maintenance isn't allowed so currently donations are out of the question according to some FFL staff members.)

If you really need some assurance, you'll just have to wait for a reply from someone who has fully researched this matter.

If that's true, that's really sad and disrespectful to the child on Disney's part. Deeply saddened by that.

EDIT: just Googled it, it seems it's true but someone at Disney had a change of heart. So I guess I'm a little less disgusted now.
